Laurel Mellin, author of Wired for Joy and UCSF professor of family and community medicine, appears at UCOP for a brown bag lunch on Emotional Brain Training, Tuesday, May 17, 12 to 1 pm in 5320 Franklin.
On Wednesday, May 18, celebrate UC Walks Day by joining your UCOP colleagues for a lunchtime stroll along Lake Merritt. HR Executive Director John Fox will serve as walk leader, and participants are entitled to a free T-shirt.

Vote for your favorite science video from among the top five submitted to the U.S. Department of Energy. Lawrence Berkeley Lab’s "Carbon in Underland" is among the top five picks in the running for the People's Choice Award.
On Saturday, May 21, IR&C will upgrade several UCOP-hosted applications and services, resulting in an outage from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Affected sites include At Your Service, Connexxus Travel Services and the UC Retirement System.

UC seeks applications for the Larry Sautter Award for Innovation in Information Technology, due by 5 p.m. Friday, May 20. The program recognizes innovative information technology projects and takes applicants from all 10 campuses, UCOP and Lawrence Berkeley Lab.

University of California Health and its five medical centers have joined the federal government's Partnership for Patients, a $1 billion patient-safety initiative aimed at improving care and lowering costs.
Since January 2009, UC's 10 campuses have initiated some 400 projects to improve the efficiency of buildings and cut energy use, costs and emissions.

UC staff interested in running for one of two open seats on the UC Retirement System (UCRS) Advisory Board have until May 6, 2011, to submit nomination applications.
Join us for a brown bag lunch, “How to Listen Effectively,” on Wednesday, May 4, at 612 Kaiser building and Friday, May 6, at 12322 Franklin. You will learn nine valuable techniques to improve your listening skills at work and in your personal communications.
