Thank you to everyone who attended the Feb. 21 UCOP Future of Work (FOW) Phase 2 Town Hall. At the event, UCOP leadership discussed the latest UCOP Future of Work update and their perspectives on how our workplace has evolved following the pandemic.

Event summary

The Town Hall began with a welcome and introductions followed by a roundtable discussion with the following division leaders:

  • Nathan Brostrom, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
  • Brent Colburn, Senior Vice President, External Relations & Communications
  • Jenny Kao, Chief of Staff to the President, President’s Executive Office
  • Rachael Nava, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
  • Katherine Newman, Provost and Executive Vice President, Academic Affairs
  • Charles Robinson, General Counsel and Senior Vice President, UC Legal

During the roundtable, our leaders provided their thoughts on the following:

  • Why they believe a hybrid organization with anchor days and on-site work is a good direction for the organization
  • What they have learned about how their teams have functioned over the past three years — what has been working, as well as challenges
  • The goals and vision that UCOP leadership has for the future of our organization, and how employees can contribute towards shaping a meaningful workplace experience

Following the roundtable, they answered some of the many questions pre-submitted by UCOP staff with support from:

  • Thera Kalmijn, Executive Director, UCOP Operations, lead for FOW
  • Nancy Pluzdrak, Executive Director, UCOP Human Resources
  • Lalitha Sankaran, Director, Office of Workplace Inclusion and Belonging
