Excel Advanced Data Analysis
March 5 and March 12, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Microsoft Excel includes several tools for analyzing large amounts of data. By learning these tools, you can change the way you do business. This two-part course will teach you how to mine the answers hidden in your data records and unlock Excel’s analysis power.

Box Advanced
March 6, 1 – 2 p.m.
If you want to know how to securely store sensitive data in Box, are interested in how to get data into Box via email or URLs, or other advanced Box techniques, sign up for this workshop! We’ll cover a range of topics including setting up alerts to monitor folders and using Box groups to manage department collaborations.

Excel Intermediate/Advanced
March 20 and March 27, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
This two-session course will teach you core Excel features and help you rapidly build your knowledge of SumIF, AverageIF and CountIF functions; tables with structured referencing; and Pivot Tables.

Zoom Advanced
March 27, 1:10 – 2 p.m.
This workshop will cover personal meeting IDs, advanced web portal settings, advanced scheduling options, screen-sharing options, smart recording, Zoom rooms and event spaces. There will also be a question and answer session.

UCOP Creating Accessible Documents
March 27, 10 – 11:30 a.m.
Digital accessibility is about ensuring users with disabilities can easily access and engage with any digital content. In this course, you will learn the principles of digital accessibility, how to generate accessible Microsoft Office Documents and how to export these to PDF.

GROWing Your Check-In Conversations for Managers
March 5, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
GROW is a popular coaching framework used around the world for problem-solving, goal-setting and performance improvement. This interactive session provides managers an opportunity to discuss and practice using the GROW framework as a strategy and tool to support engaging STEP Check-in conversations. The ecourse “GROWing your Checkpoint Conversations” must be taken before this class.

GROW Plus: Accountability Conversations for Managers
March 6, March 19, March 22, March 28 or April 3, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
This is the second part of the required live training series on manager and employee performance conversations. This training answers the question: What do I do when my coaching is not improving performance? In this virtual, live and highly interactive workshop, we will cover providing productive critical feedback, managing emotions, creating efficient documentation and holding effective accountability conversations. Managers will also practice role-playing accountability conversations using the UCOP GROW Plus framework.

People Leader Forum: Recruitment Best Practices
March 15, 1 – 2 p.m. 
The People Leader Forum is a monthly opportunity for people managers to connect, develop leadership skills, build community, share best practices, swap strategies for navigating current challenges and learn to better support themselves and their teams. At this session, Senior Talent Acquisition Manager Kelly Howard will share strategies for recruitment — including some new and improved LinkedIn tools.

Get settled in as a new employee

New Employee Orientation 
March 7, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Starting a new job or transitioning to a new location can be daunting. The UCOP New Employee Orientation is designed to facilitate your smooth transition to the organization. Topics will include UC and our history, UCOP overview, tools and resources, safety and compliance.

GROWing your Check-In Conversations for Employees
March 14, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
In this session, we’ll discuss the GROW framework and how to incorporate it into your Check-in Conversations. We will then practice using the GROW and share tips and strategies for providing feedback. The ecourse “GROWing your Checkpoint Conversations” must be taken before this class.

Creating an Inclusive Culture: Intergenerational Collaborative Work Teams
March 8, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
In today’s workforce, five generations work alongside each other. Each generation offers values, assets and viewpoints that enhance organizations and enrich culture. While this array of experiences and talent benefits organizations, it can also be challenging. During this workshop, we’ll define and understand cultures within teams; identify the strengths of each generation and the value they provide to the team dynamic; learn about silent team “killers”; and develop methods to shape a diverse, and inclusive team grounded in equity.

Write Right
March 19 and March 21, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
This two-session course provides the basics of grammar and writing clearly. Learn the key characteristics of good writing, discover current best practices in business writing and practice your own writing skills.

Collaborating Productively in Hybrid Meetings (Oakland and virtual)
March 26, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Learn techniques to help you lead hybrid meetings with the preparation and processes to run meetings smoothly, increase participation and engagement, and include all voices — whether they’re joining in-person or virtually.

UCOP Safety: Basic Awareness
March 7, 1 – 2 p.m.
Program Manager for Security, Risk and Resilience Melissa Collins facilitates this live virtual class focused on basic safety tips to help employees feel informed, alert and safe as they travel to and from the workplace. Participants will have an opportunity to ask safety-related questions.

UCOP Safety: Active Attacker Training
March 20, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Learn skills and strategies for responding if you are exposed to an active-attacker situation. The course will review real-life incidents and discuss options in the event of potential similar encounters.

Daily Microbreak Stretches at Your Desk
June 12, 1 – 1:45 p.m.
Being in a prolonged sedentary state is not good for your body or your mind. Getting the blood flowing helps you stay fresh, boost creativity and energy, and keep your body working efficiently. Add simple stretches during the day to be more productive and reduce stress on your body.
