Applications for two top-tier leadership development programs close Friday
UCOP Learning and Development has extended the application deadline for two popular cohort classes — Making Power Moves and Take Charge. You can now apply to participate in these programs through Dec. 13! Read on for more details.
Take Charge: Learn how to develop a career strategy
If you’re an administrative, support or entry-level staff member who’s ready to take your career to the next level, check out Take Charge: Developing a Career Strategy! This six-month program, sponsored by UCOP’s Learning & Development team, will give you the tools you need to thrive in the workplace for years to come. Its success comes from a winning combination of classroom learning, independent study and peer mentoring.
Take Charge is co-led by Amy Levine, Ed.D. and Chris Pohalski, M.S., M.A. Amy is a certified leadership coach, educator and consultant with over 30 years’ experience working with individuals and groups to assist them in reaching their goals. Chris is a career consultant, providing specialized career counseling, coaching and consulting services for professionals and organizations.

Making Power Moves: Women and Leadership
Also led by Amy Levine, Making Power Moves is an exceptional career development opportunity with content focused on women and leadership. This course is designed expressly for UCOP staff who manage people and projects, and sessions reflect the unique UCOP environment. Through a mixture of lectures, discussion and interactive exercises course participants will learn to:
- Navigate their personal professional advancement with grace and poise
- Develop coaching techniques to empower their own supervisees and delegate with clarity and confidence
- Assess organizational politics in order to put their best foot forward in the workplace
- Assess the state of their professional networks and learn the secret about networking as a vehicle to make connections that truly count
- Prepare to negotiate, build a case, present a request and clinch the deal
- Successfully think and speak extemporaneously
- Help others recognize their value in the workplace and create a successful relationship with leadership
- Enhance leadership skills by focusing on successes rather than mistakes
