Mark National Disability Independence Day by exploring digital accessibility
July 26 is National Disability Independence Day and UCOP Information Technology Services colleagues are marking the occasion with a discussion on digital accessibility.
Judy Thai, director of Application Engineering, ITS, and Beena Albert, Business Intelligence technical lead, ITS, will discuss the LinkedIn Learning course “Accessibility for Managers and Non-Designers”. Taught by web design expert, instructor and corporate trainer David Karlins, this course presents an overview of how non-technical stakeholders at any level can guide designers and developers to create accessible user experiences. David also shares tips on strategies to test for accessibility and guidance for leveraging accessibility features to deepen connections with audiences.
Judy and Beena’s discussion will help attendees:
- Understand the importance of creating accessible products across the entire digital product workflow and lifecycle
- Learn how non-designers and non-developers can lead and contribute to accessible and inclusive UX design projects
- Recognize, appreciate and convey the long-term value of accessible products and experiences
- Gain an overview of how non-technical stakeholders can guide designers and developers to create accessible user experiences
- Learn tips on testing strategies for accessibility, with and without outside resources
Although you are encouraged to watch the LinkedIn Learning course before this workshop, all attendees will gain value from this event.
