New training: UCOP Authentic Anti-Racist Leadership
On April 10 and April 17, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. (PT), join highly regarded trainer Rachelle Rogers-Ard, Ph.D., for a new course: UCOP Authentic Anti-Racist Leadership.
What to expect
Throughout the workshop, you will be asked to consider leadership through an anti-racist lens, drawing upon a deep understanding of our country’s legacy of racism, whiteness, white supremacy and anti-Blackness. Dr. Rogers-Ard will present leadership theories, asking participants to grapple with leadership as often presented with patriarchal, white framing, then offer her HEART model to challenge and shift participants’ thinking around their own leadership.
Key themes will include the interrogation of systemic and interpersonal racism, problems of leadership practice and approaches to management and leadership.
Key takeaways
After completing this course, you will gain a deep understanding of:
- Foundational leadership components
- Differences between leading and managing
- Racist systemwide policies, practices and behaviors
- Using the HEART model to inform leadership approaches
- How to develop a professional learning community through sharing and listening to diverse perspectives
- How your interactions with race impact your leadership approach
Participants are required to attend the entirety of both sessions on April 10 and 17 and are expected to be fully engaged and on camera.
