Live classes and workshops

FSAP: Working Parents: Strategies for Wellness and Avoiding Burnout
May 8, 12 – 1 p.m.
Join Heike Mitchell, Ph.D., of the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program for a practical, solution-focused session to help working parents manage burnout and improve well-being. By the end of the webinar, you will be able to: recognize signs and causes of parental burnout; discover personal, family and career strategies for prevention and recovery; design your own plan to make working parenthood more sustainable; and access resources for dealing with parental burnout inside and outside your workplace.

FSAP: An Expressive Arts Webinar for Navigating Uncertainty
May 14, 12 – 1 p.m.
Although we are living in a time of ongoing uncertainty, it is also one of creativity, connection and unexpected joy. Led by Drs. Leanna Reyes, Tina X. Wang and Sabina Brown of the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, this webinar invites attendees to explore this tension. We’ll begin with a warm, accessible look at what uncertainty does to our minds and bodies — and why learning to hold mixed emotions is a skill, not a personality trait. Then, we’ll participate in a guided mandala exercise (no artistic experience needed!) followed by a short poetry-writing exercise.

FSAP: The Psychology of Journaling and Wellbeing
May 20, 12 – 1 p.m.
Putting words to the feelings we carry can be powerful. Led by Nicolas Bob, PsyD, a licensed clinical psychologist and staff psychologist at California College of the Arts, this one-hour journaling workshop will explore the science behind journaling, learn four ways to journal and spend time writing together in a low-pressure, judgment-free space. All are welcome — previous journaling experience is not needed.

FSAP: Drowning in To-Do Lists: A New Way to Think About Getting Things Done
May 28, 12 – 1 p.m.
When we feel overwhelmed by to-do lists, it impacts our capacity to manage tasks and find sustainable balance. In this workshop, led by Sophia Sandhu, licensed psychologist at the UC Davis Academic and Staff Assistance Program, we’ll review scientific research on how stress impacts regulation and functioning, barriers to managing stress and functional ways to manage it. This webinar draws on ideas and inspiration from “How to Keep House While Drowning” by KC Davis, LPC.

21 Practices for Mindfulness and Happiness at Work
June 2, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Presented by People-On The Go, this workshop is designed to help participants develop and practice mindfulness, emotional intelligence, growth mindset and productivity skills that are crucial in today’s workplace. Participants focus on behavioral changes and initiative-taking, while at the same time paying attention to self-care, stress reduction, fostering enjoyment and self-fulfillment. The workshop consists of a blend of short presentations, interactive exercises and exposure to various mindfulness practices.

How Positive Discourse Shapes the Workplace
June 11, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Positive discourse fosters a receptive, high-functioning and positive environment. It’s an incredibly powerful resource and motivator that inspires others to think and act more positively, and a medium through which we make our intentions, values and beliefs known to others. In this course, participants will learn to explore the science of gratitude, define discourse and how it affects teams, identify the language of leadership and take steps to shift language for a positive team culture.

For people managers

People Leader Forum
The People Leaders Forum is a monthly opportunity for people managers to connect with one another to develop leadership skills, build community, share best practices, swap strategies for navigating current challenges and learn to better support themselves and their teams. Two upcoming sessions are designed to help you support your team’s well-being. Use the link above to register.

  • Coaching and Feedback to Grow Social and Emotional Skills
    May 29, 1 – 2 p.m.
In this session, we explore how to provide meaningful, actionable feedback that supports the development of social-emotional skills. Many managers find it challenging to guide growth in areas like building positive relationships, navigating emotions, and strengthening emotional awareness. This session challenges the belief that these skills are fixed, showing instead that they can be learned and developed over time. Through practical tools, real-world scenarios, and concrete strategies, managers will build confidence in coaching and giving feedback that helps individuals grow.
  • Supporting Employees Navigating Change and Transitions
    June 26, 1 – 2 p.m.
